A notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Maha, has sparked outrage with a chilling boast that he possesses the capability to abduct top government officials, including state governors, while also alleging deep infiltration of Nigeria's security apparatus .
The terrorist kingpin made the threats in a recorded audio message that surfaced on Sunday and was shared widely by verified X user, Abdool Moh . In the recording, Maha accused authorities of refusing to release his arrested associates and seized cattle, insisting that the government's actions had pushed him into escalating violence across affected communities .
"I Am Not Tired, and I Will Not Stop"
Maha declared that repeated efforts to secure the release of his men were ignored, leaving him with no intention of backing down from his campaign of terror .
"You arrested my men, and I asked for their release. You refused. I promised that I would abduct many people, and I already have targets," he said in the audio .
He further threatened that no amount of military deployment could force him to retreat. "I asked why my men and Aminu were arrested. Since they were not released, I don't care if they send thousands of soldiers. I am not tired, and I will not stop until I leave this world. I can kidnap top government officials, even a state governor," Maha boasted .
Alarming Claims of Security Force Infiltration
In one of the most disturbing aspects of the recording, the bandit leader claimed that some security personnel secretly provide him with intelligence on planned military operations .
"I swear to Almighty God that all the security forces sent to attack my camp are my boys. They inform me whenever they are coming. I receive information about security strategies, including those involving the President. It is only because I allow them to operate. Otherwise, they would not even be able to use the roads," he alleged .
Maha further claimed that if he wanted, he could release voice recordings and other evidence to prove his allegations about security operatives working for him . These claims have raised serious concerns over possible intelligence leaks and internal compromise within security operations in the North-West .
Threats to Farming Communities
The bandit leader also warned that farming activities in several local government areas could be severely disrupted if his demands were not met .
"If my cows are not released, I swear to God that people will not be able to farm in these local government areas. Call me a bastard if I fail," he threatened .
Context of Ongoing Insecurity
Maha's threats come amid a broader multi-pronged offensive by the Katsina State government to dismantle criminal networks responsible for worsening insecurity . The state has intensified its crackdown on banditry with measures including a ban on the sale of petroleum products in jerrycans .
Government Response
As of the time of filing this report, Nigerian security agencies and the Federal Government had not publicly responded to the claims made in the viral audio . However, security forces remain on the trail of Kachalla Maha and other criminal elements, assuring residents that ongoing military operations would continue until those responsible for acts of terror are brought to justice .
