Lagos, Nigeria – A mild drama unfolded at a Lagos State magistrate court on Monday, June 8, when a man who was about to be arraigned attempted to escape custody by fleeing through the ceiling of the courthouse toilet.
According to a video shared online by TikTok user Ogechi Neenyi, the suspect told security personnel that he needed to ease himself and was escorted to the restroom. However, instead of answering the call of nature, he allegedly made a desperate bid for freedom.
The man reportedly climbed onto the toilet ceiling, hoping to make his getaway unnoticed. But when the police officers stationed outside the toilet waited for an extended period and did not see him come out, they grew suspicious.
Officers Threaten to Shoot
The officers called out to him, but there was no response. Upon entering the restroom, they discovered it was empty—the man had disappeared into the ceiling.
Realizing he was still hiding somewhere above, the officers issued a stern warning, threatening to shoot if he did not reveal his location and come down immediately.
Faced with the threat of gunfire, the man surrendered and climbed down from his hiding spot. He was promptly rearrested and taken into custody.
